|The Leicester HomeChoice website is being upgraded from the 7th December 2020 and the way you access some of our online services will change.|
After this date, before you can access the HomeChoice website or submit a housing application form you will need to sign up for a Housing Online account. If you are a current Leicester City Council tenant you will also be able to access other services on Housing Online.
There will be no properties advertised for 2 weeks from 2nd December through to the 14th December 2020 while the website is upgraded. You may still receive offers of accommodation during this period.
The new website will advertise properties available for rent from 6:00am Wednesday 16th December 2020 and will run for 1 week, closing on Monday 21st December 2020.
Please note you will not be able to submit a housing application form from the 4th December 2020 to 14th December 2020, while the system is upgraded. The form will be available again from 14th December 2020.
For further information about signing up to Housing Online please see the FAQS.
Please note that with effect from the 1st Monday in April, the rent for Leicester City Council properties will increase.
All Leicester HomeChoice properties currently available to rent are listed here. You can browse through the list of available properties, search by area or search by property type. Remember once you are logged in you will only be able to view and express an interest for those properties you are eligible for according to your housing need.
You must have a registered Housing Application with us prior to selecting properties. You can register here.
Please remember it is important to tell us if you have moved address since you applied or last contacted us, or if there has been another change in your housing circumstances. You can tell us about any changes online at www.leicester.gov.uk/applicationenquiries or by using the Change of Circumstances link on the How to Apply Page.
IMPORTANT: To keep Leicester City Council's Housing Register and applications up to date, if you do not place any bids in a 6 month period, and there has been no contact or activity on your Housing Application, we will consider you are no longer in housing need and your application will be cancelled.
EXCEPTIONS: If you are waiting for adapted accommodation or a large home with 4 or more bedrooms, we will review your application after 12 months rather than 6 months as above.
There is an expectation that if you are offered a property you will accept the offer. Be sure about the property and the area you choose - detailed information on the property can be found by clicking on the photograph of the properties being advertised, or click on the view details on the right hand side of the screen.
Your position on the list for a property you have bid on is a guide and may change daily due to other applicants bidding with different priorities. Once the cycle is closed your position on the list will be correct on the day the shortlist is run and is determined by your priority.
You can express an interest in properties between 6.00am on a Wednesday and midnight on the following Monday. You cannot place bids on a Tuesday.
